How to Protect Aperio from an Extended PG&E Outage
Aperio has multiple systems in place to protect our business from an extended power outage by our gas and electricity utility provider, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), and prevent damage and data loss to our business’s computers and other power-sensitive equipment. These measures include a permanent stationary generator that is powered by natural gas and has a higher capacity than portable generators.

In mid-March 2020, and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the state of California implemented a shelter-in-place order. To support and comply with this order, Aperio initiated its Business Continuity Plan and we are maintaining ongoing operations through remote working with minimized personnel in the office, consistent with our local government's orders to "shelter in place" for businesses and individuals. We continue to be fully operational.
Clients can find clarifications about our portfolio management process and SLAs on our client portal.
Please note that while our main phone number and our Trading and Operations lines are being forwarded to key Aperio staff, the people monitoring the phone lines may not be able to assist you with your specific inquiry and will not have the ability to transfer your call. They will need to take your name and contact information and have the proper person call you back. The most expeditious way to reach Trading or Operations is via a portal request.
Business Continuity: Aperio has taken significant steps to mitigate the impact of business disruption resulting from a wide variety of potential events, including a pandemic. Our Business Continuity Management process is regularly reviewed and tested. As a result, during last year’s episodes of extended power shutdown by our local utility company, Aperio’s operations remained uninterrupted. Our Business Continuity Plan encompasses all aspects of Aperio’s key activities including, but not limited to, portfolio management, trading, research, business development, client service, and operations. As such, essential functions can be maintained even if key staff members are absent.
Remote Working: Employees are maintaining ongoing operations through remote working. We have made substantial investments in cloud-based technology, laptops, collaboration tools, and secure virtual networks which provide us with extensive flexibility regarding where we work.
We are creating a thoughtful, phased plan for returning to the workplace, and we will use guidance from health experts to maintain a safe workplace for all employees, including those who have continued to work from the office and those who will be returning to the office over the course of time. Aperio does not expect 100% of our employees to be back in the office during this year, 2020
Minimized Travel: Presently, we have minimized business travel and rescheduled in-person meetings to video or conference calls.
Employee Support: We are providing the necessary support and flexibility to employees who need to tend to impacted family members (e.g., sickness, school, or childcare closure).
Working Closely with Business Partners: We remain in communication with third-party vendors to understand their preparedness and evolving response to the COVID-19 situation so as to ensure that collectively, we can continue to provide a high standard of service.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will immediately inform you if we have any significant changes to our operations.

We have been monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation closely. First and foremost, we hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and remain so.
We would like to provide an update on the steps we have taken in response to a potential escalation of the COVID-19 virus.
Business Continuity: Aperio has taken significant steps to mitigate the impact of business disruption resulting from a wide variety of potential events, including a pandemic. Our Business Continuity Management process is regularly reviewed and tested. Remote Working: In the event employees may need to be confined at home, we will maintain ongoing operations through remote working. We have made substantial investments in cloud-based technology, laptops, collaboration tools, and secure virtual networks which provide us with extensive flexibility regarding where we work. However, we apologize in advance if you hear extraneous sounds, such as children or dogs, in the background during conference calls.
Minimized Travel: We are assessing our travel schedules and when possible, rescheduling in-person meetings to video or conference calls. We appreciate your understanding as we limit travel to business-critical situations and when virtual methods are insufficient.
Preventive Practices: We have instructed employees to stay away from the office if they become sick or if they suspect to have been exposed to individuals with COVID-19. We are providing the necessary support and flexibility to employees who need to tend to impacted family members (e.g., sickness, school, or childcare closure). We have reminded our team to promote personal hygiene such as more frequently wiping down common areas and personal desks, regularly washing their hands, and minimizing touching their faces, noses, and mouths. Our building management company has ensured us that similar steps are taken in public spaces.
Working Closely with Business Partners: We are in communication with third-party vendors to understand their preparedness and response to the COVID-19 situation so as to ensure that collectively, we can continue to provide a high standard of service.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will immediately inform you if we have any significant changes to our operations.
