Partners
Patrick Geddes
Patrick Geddes is Aperio Group's Chief Investment Officer and a Partner. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Patrick was the Chief Financial Officer of Morningstar, Inc. Patrick also served on the company's executive committee, overseeing all strategic, policy, and internal investment decisions. Prior to being named CFO, Patrick served as Morningstar's Director of Quantitative Research. Before Morningstar, he spent five years with Amoco, now part of BP, in the U.S. and Europe providing quantitative analysis, currency hedging and corporate tax optimization. At Amoco, Patrick was part of a group that modeled the nuances of highly complex international tax structures as part of the company’s efforts to manage taxes as effectively as possible, which in the energy sector can provide enormous payoffs to the bottom line and shareholders. He has taught numerous courses in graduate-level finance at the University of California Berkeley Extension. Patrick received his MBA, with Honors, from the University of Chicago.
Guy A. Lampard
Guy Lampard is an Aperio Group Partner. Guy is a former Partner at Montgomery Securities and Senior Managing Director at Banc of America Securities—where he worked for 15 years. During his career at Montgomery and Banc of America, his responsibilities included Director of the International Department, Deputy Head of Institutional Sales, Director of Marketing, including membership on the Equity Management and Commitment Committees. Guy is a former board member of the India IT Mutual Fund Board based in Mauritius and was also Chairman of their Audit Committee. Additionally, he is a former Trustee of the California Historical Society and Chair of their Foundation Board. He is a former member of Conservation International’s Chairman’s Council as well as Board Member of the Angel Island Foundation. Guy is the current Chairman of Heyday Institute, a publishing company based in Berkeley, California, and on the Advisory Board of ImpactAssets, a nonprofit financial services company. He is the co-author of the book Giving From Your Heart, A Guide to Volunteering. Guy received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Robert L. Newman, CFA
Bob Newman is Aperio Group's Chief Compliance Officer and a Partner. Before joining Aperio Group, Bob was Director of BARRA Ventures. Prior to BARRA, Bob was Vice President of Salomon Brothers Investment Strategies group, where he managed the group's services to index managers. Previously, Bob was a portfolio manager for the Harris Bank in Chicago, where he was in charge of fixed income portfolio strategy and credit—during which time institutional assets under management grew from $500 million to $4 billion. Bob currently serves on the Investment Committee of the Jewish Home Foundation of San Francisco, and formerly served on the board of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco. Bob is a Chartered Financial Analyst and earned his MBA in Finance and Investments from New York University.
Paul O. Solli
Paul Solli is an Aperio Group Partner. Paul began his career as a CPA with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company in Boston and also worked in strategy consulting for Bain & Company. Prior to Aperio Group, Paul was Vice President of Salomon Brothers Investment Strategies group, responsible for structuring portfolios and advising pension funds and investment companies. While at Salomon Brothers, Paul also provided consulting and order-execution services to the firm's largest indexers, including Wells Fargo-Nikko (now Barclays Global) and Mellon Capital. Paul received his MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
Chief of Staff
Liz Michaels
Liz Michaels is Aperio Group's Chief of Staff and is responsible for overseeing operations. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Liz was responsible for the $11 billion defined contribution managed accounts business at Ibbotson Associates, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. Earlier in her career, Liz was the Chief Operating Officer of Morningstar, Inc. and served on the company's executive committee. Liz was also the President of Jellyvision, Inc., an interactive firm best known for its game, You Don't Know Jack™ and Associate Dean/Director of the Career Advising and Planning Services office at the University of Chicago. Liz has a BA in Economics and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Portfolio Management & Research
Ran Leshem
Ran Leshem is Head of Portfolio Management and Operations. He oversees the portfolio management and operations of Aperio’s US, Foreign, and Global products. Ran has extensive expertise in applying quantitative techniques and information technology to complex operational problems. Prior to joining Aperio in 2006, Ran was a Manager, Operating Strategy at the GAP, Inc. At the GAP, Ran managed the development of a store level forecasting system utilizing clustering and data mining algorithms to predict sales based on historical data. Ran received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, Canada, where he received the Hewlett Packard Award for academic excellence, and his MBA from U.C. Berkeley.
Alan Cummings, PhD
Alan Cummings is a Portfolio Manager and Chief Technology Officer at Aperio Group. Alan is responsible for the design and implementation of the trading, operations, and reporting systems. Alan is a former Senior Software Engineer for National Instruments and Senior Physicist for Honeywell-Measurex. Prior to his professional career, he was a volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps at the A.D. Patel College, Fiji Islands, where he taught high school math and physics. Alan received his PhD in Physics and Master of Financial Engineering degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
Michael Branch, CFA
Michael Branch is a Senior Performance Analyst at Aperio Group. He is responsible for all aspects of performance reporting including calculation of portfolio returns, performance attribution analysis, and ensuring Aperio adheres to the highest standards of performance reporting. Michael is also a key contributor to portfolio research efforts at Aperio Group. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Michael was a Fund Operations Specialist for California Investment Trust, a mutual fund company. Michael received his BS in Finance from the University of Arizona. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco.
Sandeep Gangadhara
Sandeep Gangadhara is a Portfolio Trading and Analytics Associate. He is responsible for optimizing and trading client portfolios. He also works with clients to analyze the tax effects of portfolio transitions, liquidations and gifting. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Sandeep was a Senior Client Service Manager with Pen-Cal Administrators. Sandeep received his BA in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Terence Lau
Terence Lau is a Portfolio Trading and Analytics Associate. He is responsible for optimizing and trading client portfolio. He also works with clients to analyze the tax effects of portfolio transitions, liquidations, and gifting. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Terence was a Senior Client Data Processor with Decimal Inc. and Operations Specialist for Pen-Cal Administrators. Terence received his BS from San Francisco State University.

Jonathan Liu
Jonathan Liu is a Portfolio Accountant at Aperio Group. He is in charge of account reconciliation, client reporting, and billing. Jonathan graduated from San Francisco State University, where he received his BS in Corporate Finance and Financial Services.
Eamon Olson
Eamon Olson is a Portfolio Accountant at Aperio. His roles include account reconciliation, performance reporting, and client service. Prior to Aperio, Eamon worked at Seton Smoke Capital Management where he was responsible for back office operations, reporting, and trading. He also spent time as an Operations Associate with Raymond James Financial Services. Eamon received his BS from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Eamon holds series 7 and 63 licenses.
Katie Salvaterra
Katie Salvaterra is a Client Service Manager at Aperio. Her role includes on boarding new wealth advisors, setting up new accounts and ensuring the highest level of service to our ongoing clients. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Katie was a Client Service Representative with Quantum Capital Management. Katie received her BA from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Brockport and an MBA in International Management from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, a graduate school of Middlebury College.
Business Development
Kenneth H. Lassner , CFA
Ken Lassner represents Aperio’s services to family offices and wealth advisors in the Eastern part of the country. Ken has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Ken was most recently at US Trust and Columbia Management as a Senior Product Specialist focusing on providing tax efficient equity solutions to high net worth clients and wealth advisors. Prior to that he was a Product Specialist for Deutsche Asset Management in the Advanced Research and Quantitative Strategies Group and an Investment Strategist at JP Morgan Investment Management. Ken also spent nine years as a plan sponsor for the Federal Reserve and the Interpublic Group of Companies, managing pension plan assets. Ken earned a B.S. in finance from Babson College and an M.B.A. in finance/investments from Bernard Baruch College. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the New York Society of Securities Analysts. Ken also has a series 7 license (inactive). Ken resides in NYC with his family.

Walter Coole
Walter Coole is a Systems Developer at Aperio Group. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Walter held the position of Software Engineer for Distance Learning Company and consulted to Agilent Technologies. Walter received his BS in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology.
Margherita Hollenbacher
Margherita Hollenbacher is Aperio Group's HR/Office Manager. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Margherita worked for Levi Strauss & Co. as a sales associate. Prior to that she worked with Banco di Roma in San Francisco as Personnel and Facilities Manager. Margherita received her BA from Santa Clara University.
Maile McComb
Maile McComb is Aperio Group’s Office Assistant. Prior to joining Aperio Group, Maile worked for Allianz US as a Senior Human Resources Associate. Prior to that she spent 16 years with Charles Schwab in Operations and Human Resources.
